For the third year in a row, I am honored to be asked to assist with the Taste for Sight, a wonderful night of food, frolic and fundraising for Prevent Blindness Oklahoma. My dad, Don, has Macular Degeneration and is legally blind. This makes for an interesting life for him and my mom, since he always was a FRONTSEAT DRIVER and now is the worst kind of back seat driver – one who can only see a little of the road! But my mom is a saint, and he has adjusted, but the most important thing he has passed on to all of us is how precious the gift of sight is for us – and how we must do our part to keep an eye out (no pun intended) for the genetic and environmental issues which affect our vision.
So please, if you haven’t made any plans for Friday, July 30, 2010, please consider coming to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum for food from Oklahoma City’s finest restaurants, music and great auction items. Tickets are available by visiting the web-site above. And please, come up and say hi to me! i’ll be blabbing on and on and on into the microphone about all the cool stuff happening. Plus, i have donated one of my pieces of art to the cause, so feel free to bid on it!
See ya Friday at Taste For Sight, 2010!
