Reposting here an article about digital video editing. At OU in Gaylord College we are faced with the difficult task of having three separate professional editing programs in use within the building, Final Cut Pro 7, Avid and now Final Cut X. It is a terrific thing our students can learn to use all three, but unfortunately there are work flow issues when some professors only teach one style and another is used in the newsroom for OU Nightly, for example.
I tell the students they should learn all three to give themselves a wider understanding of non-linear editing and a more impressive sill set for their resume. Unfortunately, I have to know all the tricks for all three myself in teaching them. The article is below.
