The Hornet’s Nest is a lesson in being human

IMG_5909I agree with filmmaker and friend Mike Boettcher. His masterpiece of a story, chronicling his own journey – along with his son Carlos – covering the war in Afghanistan, is not a war movie.

The Hornet’s Nest is a movie about family, extended, immediate, reunited… and how the moments to cherish are around us, all of us, every day.

If you would like to understand that you can change something in your world, that you can be something in your world, that you do, indeed, mean something to your world, then I recommend you join Mike, Carlos and the men and women whose lives are shared in this remarkable film about what happens when we go away from home to fight, and why journalism is so important in the world we live in as we try to understand humanity.

Thank you Mike for inviting me to see the screening, allowing me to learn today about my fellow man and for sharing your experience, strength and hope. I hope folks will flock to the theaters to see your film – it’s important.
